I travelled from the UK for root canal treatment, as my English dentist charged me £109.50 to tell me they wanted £2280 to do a second root canal treatment on two roots and fit a crown (and was vague about whether this would be effective as the x-ray wasn't clear) or £276 to extract the tooth.
I am completely delighted with the treatment, which came to £1,050 for x-rays, a 3D tooth scan, a second root canal treatment on two roots, a root canal treatment on a third root that had been missed in the UK, and for the crown. The only element of the treatment that was more expensive than it would have been in the UK was the x-ray and 3D tooth scan, and it is particularly fortunate they they do better x-rays and 3D tooth scans were available as it was these that showed that there was an extra root that had been missed with the root canal was first done, and that the proposed UK treatment would have been to no benefit at all.
While the UK dentist got much more expensive since leaving the NHS, their facilities and equipment were exactly the same as they always were. As well as better x-ray equipment Dentestetica had things like magic tooth scanner that meant that there was no retching while trays of clay were held in your mouth to take models, and that meant that the crown was an absolutely perfect fit first time with no adjustment at all.
Going to almost the furthest corner of Poland for dental treatment seems absolutely mental (all the more so as I went past my UK dentist at 0315am on the way to the airport!) and I was nervous about doing it. I am absolutely glad I did. Krakow is also a lovely city, so apart from an afternoon and part of a morning in the dentist, I also had a good short break!
