Surgical:

Sleeve gastrectomy

The procedure involves stomach size reduction. It is associated with the highest lifelong comfort and the lowest complication risk. This type of surgery became the most popular bariatric surgery worldwide.

Weight loss surgeons carry out sleeve gastrectomy laparoscopically. During the procedure through four small incisions (about the size of a pea), the surgeon gets access to the abdominal cavity and removes approximately 80% of the stomach.

Gastric balloon

The gastric balloon is a medical device that is placed temporarily into the stomach to reduce weight. This method is an alternative to surgical one. The stomach balloon limits the amount of food and creates a feeling of fullness.

To perform the procedure, doctors use endoscopy. The balloon in the deflated state establishes through the mouth.

The system consists of a balloon, a placement tube, and a filling system. After placing the balloon into the abdomen, it is filled with saline.

This method helps the balloon to float freely within the stomach. The surgery lasts 20-25 minutes.

The gastric balloon is designed for 6-12 months (according to its type). To remove the device, the surgeon also uses endoscopy. The surgeon pierces the balloon with a needle and removes it with a gastroscope.

After removing the balloon, the effect stays permanent. But the patient can repeat the procedure if necessary.
