How Much Does Embryo Transfer Cost in Turkey?

Embryo transfer in Turkey typically costs from $500 to $1,400. The total price depends on whether patients choose a standalone frozen embryo transfer or a full IVF cycle. Major medical hubs include Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya. In the US, similar procedures cost around $5,500 on average. Patients save approximately 84% by choosing Turkish clinics. Standard packages often include the transfer procedure, initial consultations, and language assistance.

  • Full IVF/ICSI cycle: Typically costs between $3,000 and $5,000 including egg retrieval and first transfer.
  • Frozen embryo transfer: Standalone procedures for previously frozen embryos generally range from $900 to $2,050.
  • Genetic screening: PGT-A or PGD testing often adds significant costs, typically between $2,150 and $4,300.
  • Medication: Fertility drugs are usually charged separately, adding approximately $800 to $1,600 to the budget.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing JCI-accredited hubs like Memorial Şişli Hospital or Anadolu Medical Center offers massive value. Anadolu is even affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine. These top-tier clinics provide high-level expertise for roughly $3,250 to $4,100. This often include perks like hotel stays or airport transfers. It is a smarter move than unbundled services. You get world-class infrastructure for a fraction of US costs.

Key Benefits

Why do patients choose Turkey for embryo transfer?

  • Accredited clinics: JCI-certified hospitals and centers accredited by Turkey’s Ministry of Health provide top-quality care.
  • Latest technologies: Clinics use techniques such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and employ devices like the EmbryoScope time-lapse system. These tools enhance embryo selection and improve success rates.
  • High success rates: Embryo transfer procedures in Turkey have an efficacy of 60-70% for women under 35. The rates are slightly lower for older age groups.
  • Expert surgeons: Leading fertility specialists, often with international certifications, have extensive experience. They have performed thousands of embryo transfer procedures, contributing to their expertise and high patient satisfaction.

hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏
To be honest, we found the clinic by searching for the top 10 hospitals in Turkey and chose Memorial, the call centre was very adequate, we were met at the airport by a special clinic transfer car, which was very convenient for us! Then we had a consultation with doctor Semre Kahraman, she explained us the next steps of our operation (IVF) in a very clear language. We are planning to have the operation at the end of November hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏, I forgot to mention the consultation was free which surprised me very pleasantly 😳 as last year I was in Medipole there I paid 220$ for the consultation.
I liked Dr Semre the best.

She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my coordinating doctor Yaroslava from the platform. She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience. Yaroslava even enquired about my impressions after my consultation with the doctor, which was very pleasant. Her responsiveness and support helped me to make an important decision. As for the treatment and the doctor, it is too early to give a final assessment, as we are just starting to work. But I can already say that I chose Memorial Ataşehir Clinic and I was satisfied with the staff, the doctor, the interpreter and the clinic itself. I will definitely write a full review of the results later.
A reverent approach of the doctor, no rush, polite, smiling. And my doctor coordinator Yaroslava.

Yes, I liked it overall. But I didn’t like how translators work - there are not enough Russian-speaking translators, you have to wait for them all the time, once I waited 1.5 hours, once without an interpreter I mixed up the medication, I didn’t take the medicine correctly, because I didn’t understand correctly, even if the translator comes to you, will be in a hurry, because they have a lot of work. The clinic in the Bahcelievler district is large, modern, all tests, medicines can be bought on the spot, the staff is polite. I can’t say the result of infertility treatment yet, since I have only gone halfway through IVF, but I hope for a successful result.

Was offered an appointment and was told it would be online and an interpreter would be provided but there was no interpreter. I was told to pay a deposit but then after the appointment which was suppose to last an hour but lasted 20 minutes (and was started late) was concluded the hospital refused to refund me the deposit when I decided not to proceed! Luckily my credit card was able to get the money back for me.
Nothing
Lack of professionalism, lack of empathy and understanding. Changing the times of my appointment and not having an interpreter available despite promising to have an interpreter.

"The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything
The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything. The only thing I didn’t like was the wait. At the reception no one spoke English or Russian, I had to wait for an interpreter from another part of the clinic. We were hungry and nervous while waiting, but overall the reception and consultation went well.

I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service
My experience in the hospital was not the best one. Please don't get me wrong, the hospital is well maintained and organized. The only problem I had was the visa for my husband. They have assigned interpreter for me in Bulgarian (I have not requested, because my husband doesn't speak my language, so we preferred English communication), however the lady took more than two weeks to replay my email and send the invitation letter. The visa was not ready on time. My treatment started and I had to cancel because my husband was not able to come. We have lost a lot of money and of course the delay of our dream. No one even offer an apology to me.. I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service. Everyone I talk to is very polite, attentive and try to fulfil all the request and solve the problem. Thank you so much. I will be happy to work with you again.

FAQ about Embryo Transfer in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing like yoga pants or a maxi dress to ensure ease during the procedure. Patients must arrive with a full bladder by drinking 1–2 liters of water 60 minutes prior. This helps doctors at JCI-accredited centers in Istanbul visualize the uterus via ultrasound.

  • Clothing choice: Opt for slip-on shoes and avoid tight waistbands or metal zippers.
  • Bladder preparation: Drink 1–2 liters of water 45–60 minutes before your scheduled appointment time.
  • Body care: Shower but skip perfumes, lotions, or deodorants to avoid potential embryo irritation.
  • Post-transfer essentials: Pack sanitary pads for light spotting and a water bottle for hydration.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many focus on the transfer, the logistics of Istanbul traffic can spike stress levels. Clinics like Memorial Şişli and Liv Hospital Ulus are popular specifically because their coordinated transfer services and nearby hotels minimize morning travel anxiety.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend wearing warm socks or leggings to stay comfortable in the clinic. Many suggest arranging transport in advance to ensure a calm, horizontal rest period immediately following the procedure.

p>Embryo transfer in Turkey is statistically safe, performing within global standards at Joint Commission International accredited hospitals. Clinical pregnancy success rates average 40% to 60% per transfer, with younger patients under 35 often achieving a 55% live birth rate at top Istanbul facilities.

  • Safety standards: Clinics like Memorial Healthcare Group maintain JCI accreditation and ISO international laboratory standards.
  • Success rates: PGS-tested embryo transfers reportedly achieve implantation rates up to 60% in advanced labs.
  • Specialist expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Alper Sismanoglu report a 65% success rate over 4,000 procedures.
  • Recovery protocol: Patients undergo a 15-30 minute procedure followed by 14 days of limited activity.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data suggests choosing single-specialty centers like Eurofertil IVF Center can offer more focused care. While large multispecialty hospitals have vast resources, dedicated IVF clinics often provide more personalized hormone monitoring. This specific attention can help prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome during the stimulation phase preceding the transfer.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize staying at least 14 days post-transfer to avoid travel-related complications. Many report that pre-travel video consultations are essential for confirming English-speaking support and hormone protocols.

Qualified doctors for embryo transfer in Turkey must hold a specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology with an additional Ministry of Health certification in Assisted Reproduction Treatment. Look for Reproductive Endocrinologists with memberships in the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and JCI-accredited clinical experience.

  • Specialized certification: Must possess a formal Assisted Reproduction Treatment Methods Certificate (T.C. Sağlık Bakanlığı).
  • International memberships: Active participation in ESHRE or ASRM confirms adherence to global fertility protocols.
  • High-volume experience: Top specialists like Alper Sismanoğlu have performed over 4,000 successful IVF treatments.
  • Advanced academic titles: Professors or Associate Professors often lead research, managing complex cases or failures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier Istanbul clinics shows a trend where the highest success rates, often reaching 65%, are linked to doctors who personally oversee both the clinical protocol and the transfer. While many large hospitals rotate staff, choosing a private practice specialist like Prof. Dr. Nilgün Turhan ensures the same expert who designed your stimulation also performs the delicate transfer, reducing procedural variables.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of choosing a doctor who offers a pre-transfer consultation to explain protocol adjustments based on previous cycles. Many recommend verifying the specific embryologist's credentials as well, noting that consistent communication with the same medical team significantly reduces stress during the procedure.

What medical tests are required before embryo transfer in Turkey?

Required medical tests before embryo transfer in Turkey include mandatory infectious disease screenings for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Syphilis for both partners. Women must also undergo hormonal evaluations including AMH, TSH, and Prolactin, alongside a transvaginal ultrasound to assess uterine lining readiness.

  • Infectious screening: Mandatory tests for HIV, Hepatitis B/C, and Syphilis for both partners.
  • Hormonal profile: Female blood work for AMH, FSH, LH, Estradiol, TSH, and Prolactin.
  • Uterine evaluation: Transvaginal ultrasound checks for polyps, fibroids, and optimal endometrial thickness.
  • Semen analysis: Male partners require updated motility and morphology results before procedure initiation.
  • Trial transfer: Many clinics perform a mock transfer to map the cervical path.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Quality signals in Turkey often correlate with high patient volumes and extensive surgeon experience. Clinics like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital serve thousands of international patients annually. Choosing a specialist like Dr. Alper Sismanoglu, who has performed over 4,000 treatments, often ensures more precise diagnostic protocols.

Patient Consensus: Accuracy is key as Turkish clinics are highly efficient compared to Western facilities. Patients recommend completing infectious and hormone panels 3 months early at home to save time and approximately $150 to $350 on-site.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for IVF and embryo transfer?

Patients typically need to stay in Turkey for 5 to 7 days for a fresh embryo transfer. A full IVF cycle requires around 21 days, while frozen embryo transfers or cycles involving PGS testing usually necessitate a 10 to 14 day stay.

  • Fresh transfer timeline: Expect a 5–7 day stay covering retrieval through final embryo placement.
  • Frozen cycle duration: These cycles typically require 10–14 days for specialized preparation and monitoring.
  • Post-procedure rest: Clinics recommend resting for 24–48 hours before flying home after transfer.
  • Hospital stay: No overnight stay is required in Turkish clinics after the outpatient procedure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Istanbul clinics like Anadolu Medical Center show extreme efficiency with 6-day total stays being common. While US protocols often involve longer waiting periods, Turkish specialists like Dr. Alper Sismanoglu frequently perform day 5 blastocyst transfers within a single week. This streamlined approach allows international patients from over 160 countries to minimize hotel costs without compromising the 65% success rates seen at top-tier facilities.

Patient Consensus: Patients often report arriving on Monday and flying home by Saturday. They appreciate that no prolonged bed rest is necessary, allowing for a quick return to their home country.

What is the recovery time and activity restrictions after embryo transfer?

Most patients resume normal daily routines within 24 to 48 hours following an embryo transfer. While immediate clinic rest lasts 15 to 30 minutes, Turkish IVF specialists often recommend a 2-day period of light activity at home before returning to work or travel.

  • Initial recovery: Clinical discharge occurs after 30 minutes of reclining rest.
  • Activity limit: Avoid lifting over 5kg for 10 to 14 days.
  • Heat restriction: Skip hot tubs, saunas, and baths to protect implantation.
  • Physical movement: Gentle 10-minute walks are encouraged to improve uterine blood flow.
  • Sexual activity: Pelvic rest is typically advised until the formal pregnancy test.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish fertility centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center prioritize blood flow over strict bed rest. Data from over 2,000 IVF treatments at specialty clinics suggests that moving too little can be as counterproductive as overexertion. The smartest strategy is a 48-hour `couch rest` followed by light walking to prevent blood clots during the two-week wait.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize staying occupied with low-stress hobbies to survive the anxiety of the two-week wait. Many suggest having sanitary pads ready for light spotting and preparing meals in advance to avoid standing for long periods.

Are there city or clinic rankings for IVF using quality metrics in Turkey?

Turkey does not publish official government rankings for IVF success rates, as the Ministry of Health monitors these facilities privately. Instead, quality is measured through international accreditations from Joint Commission International (JCI), ISO certifications, and clinical benchmarks like those from the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE).

  • Primary hub: Istanbul dominates with high laboratory standards and the most JCI-accredited fertility centers.
  • Clinical anchors: Memorial Healthcare Group and Anadolu Medical Center are global leaders in successful transfers.
  • Specialist credentials: Top-tier doctors like Prof. Dr. Nilgun Turhan boast 30+ years of clinical experience.
  • Success markers: High-performing clinics often report pregnancy rates between 50% and 65% for younger patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Istanbul is the clear leader for complex cases, Ankara is a powerful alternative for patient-centered care. Clinics like Dr. Esra Cabuk Comert's specialize in high-volume fertility treatments with over 2,000 procedures performed. This specialized focus in Ankara often provides more personalized coordination than the massive hospital groups in Istanbul.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find success by emailing clinics directly for internal frozen versus fresh embryo data. They often recommend budgeting for two transfers and prioritizing Istanbul clinics for better English-speaking support and advanced laboratory technology.

Is hotel pick-up included in IVF packages in Turkey?

Most Turkish IVF packages include airport transfers, but daily hotel-to-clinic pick-up is usually reserved for premium all-inclusive bundles. Basic packages typically cover only medical costs like embryo transfer, leaving patients responsible for local commuting between their accommodation and the fertility center.

  • All-inclusive bundles: These typically provide VIP private transfers for all medical appointments and airport trips.
  • International departments: Centers like Anadolu Medical Center offer dedicated coordinators to manage all travel logistics.
  • Distance factors: Premium clinics often arrange lodging within 10 to 15 minutes of the facility.
  • Medical focus: Basic plans under $3,500 generally exclude non-medical costs like daily local shuttles.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many think all-inclusive means everything, daily shuttles are the first thing cut in mid-range packages. Data shows clinics with high international volumes, like Liv Hospital Ulus, prioritize logistics for patients from 180 countries. Always confirm if the driver is available on the specific retrieval and transfer days.

Patient Consensus: Travelers often find clinics are vague about daily transport until asked directly. Many suggest getting logistics in writing or negotiating pick-up for the critical transfer day before paying the deposit.
