How Much Does Vitreolisis Cost in Turkey?

Vitreolisis in Turkey typically costs from $500 to $1,300 per eye. The final price depends on the specific laser technology used, the clinic location, and the ophthalmologist's expertise. In the US, similar procedures cost around $1,100 on average. Patients save around 55% compared to US prices. Standard packages often include specialized diagnostic imaging, the laser session, and follow-up examinations.

  • Standard vitreolisis: $500 to $1,300 for non-invasive laser floater treatment.
  • Advanced diagnostics: Included in most specialized eye care packages in Istanbul and Izmit.
  • Surgical vitrectomy: Often costs significantly more than laser treatment if surgery is required.
  • Combined protocols: Typically adds 20-30% if injections or additional retinal therapies are necessary.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing a specialized eye center like Dunyagoz or Cagin Eye Hospital offers superior value. These facilities handle over 60,000 patients annually and hold JCI and Temos International Healthcare Accreditation. For complex cases, seeking professors like those at Veni Vidi Eye Clinics is wise. It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided
It was a very good experience for us, and I will use this service in the future if necessary. All the answers to my questions were given. Everything is very organized. They have their own counter at the airport, where they arranged a transfer for us and brought us comfortably to the hotel. We were accompanied everywhere. The price of the service was as agreed in advance. There were no additional payments. I only spent money on my husband's eye drops at the pharmacy, but they're sold at affordable prices. The hospital is very modern, it's a large complex, there's a university nearby. The hospital has a special department for dealing with foreign clients. We didn't run, we weren't looking for anything, Mustafa was with us all the time and made arrangements for everything himself. There were a few days between the diagnosis and surgery, and we managed to book several tours of Istanbul. It helped us relieve the tension of worrying about the surgery. My husband has an agimatism, he got the best lenses in the world that exist right now. These lenses were made specifically for the parameters of his eye. It's been less than a week since the surgery, but my husband says he can see some things even better than he had with glasses before. The rehabilitation is not over yet, he has to drip eye drops on schedule for a month, take care of eyes, and don't lift heavy things and rub eyes. The doctors have done their job, now a lot depends on how clearly my husband adheres to the doctor's recommendations. It was a very good experience for us and we are grateful for the treatment provided.

I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process
Communication was great. I was picked up from the hotel, transfered to the hospital, and accompanied by Adam (translator) through the journey. He knew exactly the intake process and what they would want. He was well organized and very friendly. The consultant spoke English and was very calm, and professional. I had femto iLasik which was without complication. Pre-op my prescription was -7. Day 0 post op, I could still see but with blurry vision. Day 1 post op, my vision is now 20/20. But eyes feel gritty but hopefully will ease in a few days. I am very impressed with the quality and standard of the whole process. I would highly recommend Turkey for medical tourism. It's affordable and a beautiful clean city to visit as well. Stupendous experience.

I recommend bookimed
My husband and I traveled from New Zealand to both get eye lens replacement surgery. From the start we have had print and effient communication. With every question answered. We were picked up from the airport, taken to hotel, then the same day at our request taken to the hospital for our appointment. Two days later we were in having eye surgery again with pick ups and drop offs. We were met at the hospital entrance, by bookimed.com translators and hospital translators they were amazing every day, in every way. The doctors were provisional and onto it, explaining every detail, and answering all our questions. Our procedure went very well and we are very happy with the outcome and how amazing we can see, no longer with glasses or contacts. I recommend bookimed.com to everyone. Vikki
About Bookimed service
Everything from start to finish was amazing. From the taxi service to the translators and doctors. The main thing is the results of our eye surgery.

It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again!
Overall, the experience was very much worth. It’s so world changing to be able to see clearly again! The cost was so much better than in the US, and I was also able to get the lens I wanted that is not available in the US yet. Other than a false assumption about where my hotel was located, and the drivers having difficulty finding me, the only perimeter went pretty smoothly. I’m happy with the outcome. I would only suggest that there be at least one nurse or medical staff besides the doctor who speaks English. Many more paranoid, or less traveled Americans would have a hard time going through that honestly. I feel the service is very worth iit overall, those are just some recommendations to make the service excellent and a no-brainer for Americans who need medical procedures.

Any of my needs were well met, the translation was clear and the communication with the doctor was very informative. The doctor and his whole team did their job very professionally. I am very impressed and pleased with the outcome. My treatment was very quick, professional and comfortable. Thank you very much and I will recommend this clinic to everyone I know.

Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating
The staff at Bookimed from the initial off-set answered all my questions, queries promptly. I was nervous with feelings swaying about my treatment. Upon arrival in Turkey from the airport transfer onwards, I have got to say all doubts were a contrast as to what I witnessed and to the treatment I received. On the first day the hotel staff were welcoming by the way I stayed local to VMH University Hospital Istanbul Besyol, at a budget I chose the World Point Hotel 700 meters away (Ramada Hotel was even closer.) I'm not arguing with what I paid, hygiene, cleanliness, manners, availability of staff, room, I got and witnessed. The transfer to the Hospital l walked with my translator, who put all my nerves and questions I had to bed, I must say I felt alot better. On arrival I was astounded, the smell of freshness, clean, I had to ask the translator how many floors 9 was the reply, Big, busy different ethnicities different cultures, vast array of people from all parts of the world, I felt comfortable. The level of equipment, the Doctors, staff members would not go amiss in any Country. The treatment I received the interaction which you have with the Doctor was of great effect to me as the knowledge about my treatment gained was instrumental in what was to happen. Overall I have to give the bookimed team a top rating. I would recommend anyone who is thinking of surgery abroad of any kind to get in touch with them, I can assure you, you will not be disappointed. Thank you.

The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding
My Experience with Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul I recently had surgery in Turkey, and I must say, my coordinator Olya was an incredible professional. She was with me every step of the way, always available 24/7, a true angel! Thanks to her, I chose this hospital and Turkey instead of the Czech Republic. Olya’s support was crucial in my decision, and I’m forever grateful to her. Special thanks to our guide Said, who was always available, no matter the time of day or night. He helped resolve every issue between me and the clinic, providing a smooth experience throughout the process. The doctor who performed my surgery, Alperen Koç, was outstanding. From the initial consultation to the operation itself, everything went smoothly, quickly, and painlessly. He’s truly a high-level professional who’s there to treat patients rather than make money off them. I deeply appreciate all of his care and expertise. A week has passed since the surgery, and I feel good, though my vision hasn’t fully returned yet. However, this is normal, and I’m confident that it will improve over time. I can confidently recommend Bookimed and VM Medical Park Hospital in Istanbul. Cons: The main downside of my experience was with the hospital’s billing department. They requested payment in cash, but we were not informed about this before traveling to Turkey. If you want to pay by card, they charge a 20% commission, which is an unreasonably high fee. I’d also like to mention someone named Timur (I don’t remember his last name). In front of patients, he was speaking in Russian with a female colleague, assuming we didn’t understand the language. They said something like, “People are so stupid; it’s hard to work with such dumb people.” This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable in the presence of patients. Such conversations seriously undermine the clinic’s reputation and are inappropriate in a professional healthcare setting. Therefore, I strongly advise anyone planning a visit to clarify all financial and organizational details
About Bookimed service
My experience with Bookimed was incredibly positive. From the moment I reached out, my coordinator Olya provided exceptional support, always available and guiding me through every step. The process of selecting the clinic and arranging everything was smooth and well-organized, thanks to her. Bookimed’s team made me feel confident in my decision, and their constant communication gave me peace of mind throughout the treatment journey. I highly recommend their services for anyone seeking medical care abroad.

It was the best decision to come to this clinic
I would like to express my gratitude to the clinic. I had my eyesight corrected with the help of No touch laser, which I had been suffering from since childhood. I was blown away by how professional and eager to assist the staff were
I had lens replacement and cataract surgery and was blown away by how professional and eager to assist the staff were. It was followed up by Bookimed a week later since Id returned home. They even refunded me some of my original payment even though I hadn't requested it as they found an error on the calculations. I know it's concerning to travel and have operations but from my experience you truly have nothing to worry about. I will definitely look at further surgery via this company and hospital.

Highly recommended!
I enjoyed my time in the hospital. Despite some language barrier with the driver and Staff, everything went smooth. Really appreciate Wissam, his boss and the doctor. Wissam went above and beyond to make sure my journey was smooth. They arranged pick up from airport to hotel, and every trips from hotel to hospital and back. I do wish the staff would smile a bit and speak English a bit since it's an international hospital. The doctor was really open and honest with what he can and cannot fix, which I appreciate. Price similar to what was discussed, no hidden cost. Only 24 hours after the surgery I was already in blue mosque enjoying the view with no issue whatsoever. Highly recommended!

Wherever I have been to an eye hospital in my life, I have never met such a polite and experienced doctor
The thing I liked the most about the clinic is that there is no compulsion for surgery in the clinic (compared to other places). The main problem with your eyes, that is, whether there is a disease or not, is important to them. If there is a disease, the most appropriate solution will be found. A big thank you to Opr.Dr.Sezer.Haciağaoğlu, who examined my eyes and did the laser. Wherever I have been to an eye hospital in my life, I have never met such a polite and experienced doctor. The clinic is in the first place in the world for me. I am happy if this comment is useful to someone. Because I also chose "Dunyagôz Etiler" after reading and analyzing the other comments on Bookimed. Thank you bookimed and Dunyagõz Etiler

FAQ about Vitreolisis in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Which are the top clinics and doctors for vitreolysis in Turkey?

Top clinics for vitreolysis in Turkey include specialized centers like Dunyagoz Eye Hospital and JCI-accredited facilities such as Memorial Şişli and Hisar Intercontinental. Leading experts like Muhammet Derda Ozer and Prof. Peykan Türkçüoğlu specialize in non-invasive YAG laser treatments for vitreous floaters in Istanbul.

  • Surgeon expertise: Muhammet Derda Ozer has performed over 25,000 successful eye surgeries.
  • Specialized networks: Dunyagoz Eye Hospital operates Turkey’s largest dedicated ophthalmic medical network.
  • Advanced credentials: Prof. Peykan Türkçüoğlu completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.
  • Accreditation standards: Memorial Şişli was the first Turkish hospital to achieve JCI accreditation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many general hospitals offer eye care, single-specialty centers like Dunyagoz Altunizade treat over 62,000 patients annually. This high volume often translates to more refined laser protocols for complex floater patterns. Always confirm if your selected package includes the 2–3 required sessions often needed for full clarity.

Patient Consensus: Patients often recommend budgeting for multiple laser sessions as one visit rarely clears all floaters. Many suggest choosing large hospital chains over small private offices to ensure consistent post-operative monitoring and better regulatory oversight.

What are the risks and recovery expectations after vitreolysis?

Vitreolysis is a safe, non-invasive laser therapy used to vaporize vitreous floaters. Most patients recover quickly within 24 hours, though full results may require 2 to 3 sessions. Rare risks include retinal tears, intraocular pressure spikes, or cataracts if the laser interacts with the natural lens.

  • Recovery timeline: Vision typically returns to normal within 2 to 7 days post-treatment.
  • Common side effects: Patients often see small gas bubbles or experience mild blurriness for 24 hours.
  • Treatment frequency: Achieving 70% improvement often requires multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart.
  • Serious complications: Retinal detachment or lens damage occurs in less than 1% of clinical cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Istanbul clinics shows that successful outcomes depend heavily on the surgeon's specific YAG laser volume. For instance, specialists like those at Veni Vidi Eye Clinics have performed over 20,000 to 60,000 eye surgeries. Choosing a doctor with high procedural volume significantly reduces the risk of the laser accidentally hitting the retina or lens.

Patient Consensus: Many patients report minimal downtime but warn that large floaters may break into smaller, more noticeable pieces. It is vital to monitor for sudden flashes of light, which could signal a rare retinal issue.

Is it safe to have vitreolysis eye surgery in Turkey?

Vitreolysis in Turkey is safe when performed at JCI-accredited eye centers by surgeons holding European Board of Ophthalmology (FEBO) or International Council of Ophthalmology (FICO) certifications. Top clinics use FDA-approved Ellex Ultra Q Reflex lasers, maintaining success rates around 85% for symptomatic vitreous floaters.

  • Surgeon expertise: Doctors like Ertan Sunay have performed over 60,000 successful ophthalmic procedures.
  • Advanced technology: Facilities utilize specialized YAG lasers designed specifically for high-precision floater vaporization.
  • Clinical standards: Hospitals like Memorial Sisli hold JCI and ISO certifications for safety.
  • Success rates: Turkish clinics report high efficacy with low rates of intraocular pressure spikes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While vitreolysis is non-invasive, surgery volume is the best safety indicator in Turkey. Clinics like Dunyagoz serve over 62,000 patients annually. Choosing a high-volume center ensures the medical team manages rare side effects like retinal tears or cataracts with immediate, specialized expertise that smaller clinics may lack.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the significant cost savings but emphasize the importance of having a local ophthalmologist ready for follow-up care. Most report smooth experiences at centers providing dedicated international coordinators to bridge language gaps during preoperative briefings.

What happens during the vitreolysis procedure?

Vitreolysis is a non-invasive outpatient laser procedure where an ophthalmologist uses a YAG laser to vaporize eye floaters. The surgeon delivers nanosecond light pulses through a specialized contact lens, converting collagen fibers into microscopic gas bubbles that the eye naturally reabsorbs within hours.

  • Preparation phase: Doctors apply dilating and numbing drops to ensure a clear, painless view.
  • Laser application: A slit-lamp microscope delivers hundreds of low-energy pulses directly to the floaters.
  • Visual experience: Patients often hear clicking sounds and see small flashes or dark specks.
  • Session duration: The treatment typically takes 10 to 30 minutes per eye in Turkey.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinical data shows that the highest success rates occur with specific floater types like the Weiss ring. While basic laser sessions start at $500, clinics like Memorial Sisli or Associate Professor Muhammet Derda Ozer's facility emphasize that 2 to 5 sessions are often necessary for 50–80% functional improvement.

Patient Consensus: Many patients report significant visual clarity after the gas bubbles dissipate. Experts suggest waiting at least 1 year after floaters appear, as many cases fade naturally without intervention.
