Anun Vongthongsri

Dr. Anun Vongthongsri is an ophthalmologist specializing in the cornea and refractive surgery. He was the first Southeast Asian ophthalmologist elected for a clinical fellowship at the Washington University Eye Center. Additionally, he is the first Thai doctor officially certified in refractive surgery.

Specialization & Approach

Dr. Vongthongsri treats vision issues such as keratoconus—a condition where the cornea thins and bulges into a cone shape—and cataracts. He uses techniques including ReLEx SMILE, LASIK, and IntraLase laser surgery. The doctor performs corneal transplants and ring implantations to restore sight. He also provides treatments for presbyopia and glaucoma through laser iridotomy, which uses a laser to create a small hole in the iris.

Achievements & Outcomes

Dr. Vongthongsri has performed thousands of LASIK and surface laser procedures. He also participated in early clinical studies for PRK and LASIK using excimer lasers. The specialist leads a team at the Laser Vision International LASIK Center, which serves as a training site for visiting international ophthalmologists.
