Thanks to the professor and his team, the department has been modernised by introducing modern surgical methods of treatment and especially improved methods of post-operative recovery. The Department of Surgery at the Solingen Clinic is now further expanding its focus on minimally invasive surgery in the direction of robotics. The clinic has allocated a huge budget for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment in order to offer patients a full range of surgical methods for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the oesophagus, lungs, stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines according to current guidelines and using the most modern technical equipment.

Professor Schenker is an active researcher and lecturer. He lectures at medical universities and organises seminars and workshops for colleagues. He has published numerous articles and has exceptional expertise in endoscopic therapy, endobarrier therapy, and inflammatory bowel disease.

Dr. Martin Claßen is a highly experienced pediatric gastroenterologist, specializing in functional disorders and inflammatory bowel disease in children and adolescents. He holds a degree in general medicine from the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, a specialty in pediatrics from the University Children's Hospital of Essen and a specialty in gastroenterology in children from the Children’s Hospital at the University Hospital Frankfurt. He is a member of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology Hepatology and Nutrition, the German Society of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine and the German Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
