Nephrologist

Dr. Nermina Alagic is an attending cardiologist at Anadolu Medical Center in Istanbul, a Johns Hopkins Medicine affiliate. She graduated from Istanbul University–Cerrahpaşa. She completed her cardiology residency at Istanbul Mehmet Akif Ersoy Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Hospital (2014–2018). She focuses on cardiac imaging. Dr. Cenk İndelen is a cardiovascular surgery specialist. He has practiced since 2002. He has worked at Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital since 2025. He completed his residency in thoracic, cardiovascular, and vascular surgery at Kocaeli University (1996–2002). He became an associate professor in 2023.

His focus is patient blood management and cardiothoracic optimization. He has published on transfusion cost-effectiveness and PBM implementation (Cardiovasc J Afr, 2023). He has also reported on the economics of aortic valve replacement (Heart Surg Forum, 2023) and techniques in coronary, mitral, and aortic surgery. His work also appears in JAMA (2023), Crit Care Med (2025), and Transfusion (2025).

Cardiovascular Surgery Residency 

Dr. Yigit Changa is an Associate Professor of Cardiology. He received advanced training at Dr. Siyami Ersek Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery Training and Research Hospital. He became a cardiology specialist in 2016 and completed his residency in 2010. Dr. Changa is a member of the Turkish Society of Cardiology and the Turkish Medical Association.

He has worked at leading hospitals, including Ataşehir and Kadıköy Florence Nightingale Hospitals. Dr. Changa speaks English fluently. He has a solid academic and clinical background in cardiology.

Prof. Dr. Rifat Eralp Ulusoy is a cardiologist specialized in clinical cardiology and advanced cardiac imaging. He focuses on echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, and stress echocardiography. He also treats heart valve disease, hypertension, heart failure, and cardiomyopathies. He has held academic and clinical roles at leading centers in Turkey and the United States. He is a Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology.

He has written more than 125 scientific papers and has over 1,400 citations. His clinical interests include heart tumors and cardiac care for cancer patients. He also works on cardiology in chronic kidney failure and dialysis. Other interests are heart disease in pregnancy, pericardial diseases, and heart valve infections.

Dr. Cagdas Erdogan is a gastroenterologist at Ankara Etlik City Hospital. He trained in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He earned his MD from Dokuz Eylul University. He completed his Internal Medicine residency from 2014 to 2019. He then completed a Gastroenterology fellowship at Ankara City Hospital from 2019 to 2022. His clinical focus includes advanced endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, EMR, ESD, POEM, EGD, colonoscopy, double-balloon enteroscopy), inflammatory bowel disease, and hepatology.

He has about 40 publications. His work appears in The Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, Scientific Reports, Endoscopy, and Digestive Diseases and Sciences. Notable studies address vedolizumab in IBD and prophylaxis for post-ERCP pancreatitis. He also reported a 13-year Crohn’s cohort comparing infliximab and adalimumab. Additional work covers outcomes with an adalimumab biosimilar and innovative endoscopic therapies (MCA via double-balloon enteroscopy, holmium laser for Bouveret syndrome, POEM for Zenker’s diverticulum, and ESD for esophageal papillomatosis).

Dr. Zuhal Cakmak Peksen is a Family Medicine Specialist since 2017. She earned her MD from Çukurova University in 2010. She completed specialty training at Yüzüncü Yıl University between 2013 and 2017. She is currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in Health Management at Anadolu University (2024–present).

He specializes in adult and pediatric cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. He leads the Heart Transplantation and Artificial Heart Center at Başkent University Istanbul Hospital.

Dr. Küçükaksu completed his medical and surgical training in Turkey. He also received advanced fellowships in Germany, France, and the United States. His focus has been on LVAD systems and heart failure surgery.

He introduced mechanical circulatory support and artificial heart programs in Turkey.
