He is an expert in the upper gastrointestinal tract and laparoscopic surgery and has performed over 2000 bariatric surgeries. He has a Ph.D. from Soon Chun Hyang University, is a professor at the department of general surgery and Head, Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Center, Soon Chun Hyang University Hospital Seoul, and is a visiting professor at the IRCAD Taiwan Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery and World Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Club. He is a member of the Korean Society of Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery, the Korean Society of Endoscopic & Laparoscopic Surgeons, and the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity.
