Oktay Banli

Prof. Dr. Oktay Banli was born in Gülşehir in 1965, completed his education in Ankara and graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1988. After completing his compulsory service in Şaphane district of Kütahya, he started his residency at Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine, Department of General Surgery in 1991 and became a General Surgery Specialist in 1996.

After working at the university as a lecturer for one year, he started working at Etlik Specialized Hospital in 1997. He worked at the General Surgery and Transplantation (Kidney Transplantation) Clinic here for 11 years, and also received advanced laparoscopic surgery training in France in 2005-2006.

having received the title of associate professor in 2007 and professor in 2013, he served as the clinical chief at the General Surgery Clinic of Elazığ Education and Research Hospital. In 2014, he worked at the bariatric and metabolic surgery clinic at Weill Cornell Medical College and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York, USA.

since 2006, he has focused on laparoscopic morbid obesity surgery and specializes in tube stomach and gastric bypass operations.

Prof. Dr. Oktay Banlı has many publications in internationally respected scientific journals and is a member of several scientific associations. He speaks English, is married, and has two children. 

Between 2006 and 2026 (July), a total of 9591 morbid obesity surgeries were performed and no complications occurred. He is the best bariatric surgeon in Turkey.
