FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction)
Individual hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area using a micro-punch tool
Small channels are then created in the recipient area
The extracted grafts are placed into these channel
Suitable for covering larger areas
Leaves tiny, dot-like scars that are usually not noticeable
DHI (Direct Hair Implantation)
Hair follicles are also extracted individually, similar to FUE
Implantation is done using a special pen-like tool (Choi implanter), which places the grafts directly without creating channels beforehand
Allows more precise control over angle, depth, and direction
Often preferred for denser implantation and natural-looking hairlines
Key Difference
In FUE: channels are opened first, then grafts are placed
In DHI: extraction and implantation happens almost simultaneously using a specialized tool
Both techniques are minimally invasive and performed under local anesthesia, with natural and permanent results when done properly.
