The Department of Hematology at Shanghai Tongji Hospital is a nationally accredited drug clinical trial specialty and serves as the hospital's center for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and umbilical cord blood stem cell transplantation. This program primarily targets recurrent/refractory hematologic malignancies. Prior to transplantation, patients undergo comprehensive HLA high-resolution matching and a thorough systemic health assessment. The core steps of the transplant process include: first, high-dose conditioning chemotherapy or chemoradiotherapy (myeloablative) to eradicate the patient's diseased hematopoietic system; then, intravenous infusion of healthy donor hematopoietic stem cells into the patient; finally, waiting for these cells to "engraft" in the bone marrow and rebuild normal hematopoietic and immune functions. The center has extensive clinical experience in early warning and long-term management of transplant-related complications.
What surgical procedures are included? Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (including donor stem cell collection and recipient intravenous infusion), umbilical cord blood hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
What diagnostic procedures are included? Bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, bone marrow morphology/immunophenotyping/chromosome karyotype analysis, HLA high-resolution matching, whole-body PET-CT or contrast-enhanced CT to assess tumor burden.
Are there any implants? No (performed via intravenous infusion; no artificial physical implants involved).
