The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides individualized surgical treatment options for uterine fibroids. The main objective of this surgery is to completely remove the fibroid lesions while maximizing preservation of the uterine structure and endometrial integrity, thereby protecting the patient's fertility and maintaining normal menstrual cycles. The department is proficient in various surgical approaches, including minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, hysteroscopic surgery requiring precise manipulation, and traditional open abdominal surgery. Before surgery, the doctor comprehensively evaluates the size, number, location of the fibroids, as well as the patient's age and fertility needs. Postoperative specimens are sent to pathology for analysis to confirm the nature of the fibroid (ruling out malignancy) and to provide follow-up recommendations for hormonal regulation or regular check-ups.
What surgical procedures are included? Laparoscopic myomectomy, hysteroscopic myomectomy (electrosurgical resection), vaginal myomectomy, open abdominal myomectomy.
What diagnostic procedures are included? Pelvic and gynecologic ultrasound (transvaginal/transabdominal), pelvic MRI (for precise fibroid localization), hysteroscopy, cervical TCT and HPV screening.

Dr. Wu Sufang is a Professor, Chief Physician, and Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology at a tertiary hospital in China. She has over 30 years of experience in gynecologic oncology. She trained under Academician Martin and completed postdoctoral research at MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Her surgical expertise includes radical hysterectomy, ovarian cytoreduction, endometrial cancer staging, and complex pelvic and para-aortic lymphadenectomy. She also performs fertility-sparing and minimally invasive procedures. She tailors chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and targeted therapy to each patient to improve survival and quality of life.
She is the principal investigator of four NSFC projects. She has published over 50 SCI papers, most as first or corresponding author. She serves on the standing committee of the Gynecologic Oncology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and as an expert for the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association. She is an invited speaker and an award-winning mentor.
