Total knee replacement replaces the damaged surfaces of the knee joint with an artificial implant, relieving pain and restoring mobility. It is a long-term solution for advanced knee arthritis when other treatments no longer help. The surgery is performed at Optimed International Hospital by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Gunaydin, Orthopedics and Traumatology.

Before your arrival
- Please send us all your available medical tests and reports, and a list of the medications you currently use.
- Your surgery takes place on the day of your arrival or the following day, depending on your arrival time.
Your recovery timeline
- Day 1: Examination, tests and surgery.
- Day 2: You start walking.
- Days 1-7: Your surgeon follows your recovery during your hospital stay.
- Days 5-7: Discharge and transfer to your hotel.
- Days 15-20: Final check-up and stitch removal on the day of your flight or the day before. You receive a fit-to-fly certificate and can fly home.
- After 1 month: Return to daily life.
