Thanks to the professor and his team, the department has been modernised by introducing modern surgical methods of treatment and especially improved methods of post-operative recovery. The Department of Surgery at the Solingen Clinic is now further expanding its focus on minimally invasive surgery in the direction of robotics. The clinic has allocated a huge budget for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment in order to offer patients a full range of surgical methods for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the oesophagus, lungs, stomach, liver, pancreas and intestines according to current guidelines and using the most modern technical equipment.

Professor Schenker is an active researcher and lecturer. He lectures at medical universities and organises seminars and workshops for colleagues. Professor Jair Bar, MD, PhD, is a thoracic oncologist and Deputy Director of the Cancer Center at Sheba Medical Center. He leads the Thoracic Oncology Unit. He treats lung cancer, including advanced non-small cell cases. His care includes medical oncology, radiotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapy.

He runs a translational research lab focused on resistance to immunotherapy. He has published on exhaled-breath cancer metabolism and on angiogenesis inhibition in lung cancer.

He has chaired the Israel Lung Cancer Group since 2003. He is a member of the Israel Society of Clinical Oncology and Radiotherapy, the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the American Association for Cancer Research. He is board-certified in Medical Oncology and Radiotherapy Oncology. He is a Senior Lecturer at Tel Aviv University.
