In Turkey, child and adolescent psychiatrists primarily treat children and teens with schizophrenia. These doctors are medical specialists who manage diagnosis and pharmacological care. They work within multidisciplinary teams. These teams often include clinical psychologists and social workers for therapeutic support.
Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists often hold international credentials that facilitate care for diverse families. For example, Dr. Melek Gozde Lus is a member of the American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Dr. Yakup Erdogan observed clinical practices in England. This global exposure ensures they apply international standards. Furthermore, Dr. Melek Gozde Lus offers online consultations for $260. This allows parents to discuss treatment plans before traveling.
Patient Consensus: Patients note that finding a doctor specifically experienced in early-onset psychosis is vital. They emphasize that specialists must involve the entire family in the treatment process. Many people find that medication works best when doctors also monitor school performance and sleep habits.
Turkey hosts leading child and adolescent psychiatrists specializing in early-onset schizophrenia and juvenile psychosis. Top experts practice in JCI-accredited neuropsychiatric centers in Istanbul and Ankara. These specialists use advanced neuromodulation and family-centered care for complex pediatric cases.
Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that top Turkish specialists often hold memberships in the American Psychiatric Association or American Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. For example, Dr. Melek Gozde Lus at NP Istanbul Brain Hospital offers video consultations for $260. This international alignment provides families with access to global treatment standards within specialized Turkish neuropsychiatric hospitals.
Patient Consensus: Families note it is vital to find a psychiatrist with specific experience in early-onset psychosis. They emphasize that proper medication monitoring is important to manage side effects like weight gain. Parents prefer hospital-based doctors who coordinate school support and family education alongside medical treatment.
Families find specialized childhood schizophrenia care at Turkish university hospitals and academic medical centers. These facilities offer dedicated pediatric psychiatry departments with experts like Prof. Dr. Nurper Erberk Ozen. Such centers provide the specialized diagnostic tools and multidisciplinary teams necessary for treating rare early-onset psychosis.
Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that top doctors often transition from leading public institutions to specialized neurology hospitals. For instance, Dr. Orhan Karaca trained at Bakırköy Mental and Neurological Disorders Hospital. This facility is a primary public hub for complex cases. Choosing a specialist with such a background ensures experience with the most severe pediatric psychiatric conditions.
Patient Consensus: Patients note it's better to choose university-affiliated departments over general clinics. They highlight that these centers can handle medication management and emergency admissions in one system. Many felt more secure knowing the hospital has specific experience with early-onset psychosis.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that NP Istanbul Brain Hospital offers a unique advantage for adolescent schizophrenia. They integrate psych neurophysiology with intensive inpatient care. Specialists like Dr. Nesrin Dilbaz contributed to national health action plans. This level of institutional expertise is rarely found in general private clinics.

Turkish child psychiatrists primarily offer English as the leading language option for international families. Many specialists like Dr. Yakup Erdogan and Dr. Suleyman Oflu speak English fluently. Hospitals often provide medical translators for languages such as Arabic or Russian to support complex diagnostic discussions.
Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that choosing an English-speaking psychiatrist who trained abroad adds significant value. For example, Dr. Yakup Erdogan observed practices at the University of Leicester. This international exposure helps doctors explain complex childhood schizophrenia symptoms more clearly to foreign parents.
Patient Consensus: Parents note that having a doctor who speaks English directly to their child is vital. They find that while translators help, direct communication builds the trust needed for psychiatric care. Families often suggest asking for medical reports in English to share with home doctors.
